down with boobie cancer!!

One of my worst fears in life is getting cancer. To be more specific, breast cancer. I'm mostly afraid of the losing all my hair part of cancer. Then there is the being so weak and frail from chemotherapy that also scares me. Add to that the possibility of surgery to remove the breasts. Losing my hair and my boobs is just the fastest way to take away things that I like about being a girl. And the fact that a sickness, a disease can bring that on is pretty horrible!

There is a lady at my church who has breast cancer. She is older and she is a widow. She is really the sweetest woman and I've enjoyed getting to know her. Earlier this week I volunteered to take her dinner after her latest chemo treatment. When she answered the door she was bald. When I've seen her at church she's had hair, but now I know its a good wig. It was so unexpected to see her without her hair. And yet so beautiful. All I could do was reach out and hug her, and I did. We both teared up a little and then I smiled and told her what I'd brought her. After a minute of chatter I headed home.

I hate cancer. I hate how sick people I love have gotten from it. I hate how many people I know that have died from cancer and how many of my friends have lost people they love from cancer too. I would love to live in a cancer-free world.
