Tonight my friends Gabby and Elijah came to play. We went to the 3D showing of the new "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" after our spaghetti dinner. When we left the theater there was lightning dotting the sky and the kids teased that maybe it was going to rain hamburgers tonight (after seeing the movie this notion will make more sense to you).
On the drive home the kids fell asleep. The lightning continued to dot the sky. The mountain I was driving towards was dark and barely visible with the surrounding black sky. CRASH! The lightning hit the land in the distance behind the mountain suddenly lighting up the barely visible mountain I'd been driving toward. And then again - CRASH!! It was breathtaking!
The rain came down for about a half hour after the lightning show. And the kiddos woke up for the rain pouring down as we pulled into the driveway, missing the magnificent lightning show guiding us back home.
